Noah Farrakhan Interview 12/29/16
When St. Benedicts took the floor on Thursday, December 29th, 2016 at Slam Dunk to The Beach in Lewes Delaware, their overwhelming size advantage was apparent. You would go through almost the entire team guessing who it was from their squad who took-flight for a crowd-stopping dunk before you would pick freshman point guard, Noah Farrakhan. But, sure enough, it was in fact the “listed” 6’1 guard from Union, NJ. After the 88-51 blowout-win vs. Gray Collegiate Academy, we caught up with Farrakhan to talk recruiting and personal as well as team goals for the rest of the season. I asked him despite being a freshman, “what has the beginning of the recruiting process been like for you thus far, and had you had contact with coaches before this year?” His response was very humble, he told me he did have contact prior to this year beginning with notably with Rutgers.” He went on to talk about the “freshman-experience” saying “it’s shocking that all the schools are offering me, it’s like wow, means I am only a freshman. It’s really big, it is like a dream of mine becoming a reality.” Noah told me he has offers (along with Rutgers) from “Florida, St. Johns and University of Pennsylvania.” Although it is too early to predict this type of thing this early especially with the quality player and young man that Noah is, but University of Florida really rolled off of his tongue and as of right now, Farrakhan would be headed to Gainesville. When I asked him about his personal as well as team goals for the rest of the season, Noah told me that his personal goals were “to build, to become a better all-around point guard, become more of a leader on floor and to get my all of my teammates more involved.” As for team goals his answer was very straight forward; “our main goal is to get to Dicks Nationals. That is what we are building for, that’s what we all really want.” No question that in just a few years’ time, Noah Farrakhan will be on many Division One college coaches radar. He runs the point with talented players all around him spreads the ball around and doesn’t force up shots. He is very good 3-point shooter and his sheer athleticism is a huge asset to have and really showed on his big-time dunk in the blowout win. Noah finished with 10 points, 6 assists and 2 steals.
